The Axton-Fisher Tobacco Company was founded in 1903 in Louisville, Kentucy.
This company was the first to produce a mentholated cigarette, Spud, in the 1920s. Its fortunes failed during the 1940s, however, and was bought in 1944 by Philip Morris Companies Inc.
