Belair was introduced in the United States by the Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in 1959 as a mild, filtered king-size menthol brand. Belair 100s were brought out in 1968. The brand was relaunched in the value-priced segment in the 1990s. It continued to be made by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after their acquisition of Brown and Williamson in 2004, but they discontinued the brand within a few years.
