The Reed Tobacco Company was originally known as the Ware-Vaughan Tobacco Company. Its name was changed to Reed in 1912, and it was bought by Larus and Brothers Co. the following year. While Larus and Brother mainly manufactured pipe tobaccos (most notably, Edgeworth), they started to manufacture cigarettes using Reed as a subsidiary company.
